Blue Sky Groove
Zipping through my day-off — but having the time at is nice. The holidays blurred by faster than ever. Now it is a new year, in the middle of a shy winter, and I am using the day for small things and pleasantries. Good coffee and grocery lists, laundry, and sitting at my desk cleaning my glasses. Taking down some Christmas decorations, outside and within. I kind of feel like I am catching up, just a bit…
My Christmas gift “from me, to me” this year was a sushi kit that I snagged in the grocery store. Here are some shots of my first two attempts at making my own vegetarian sushi:

(Avocado and carrots, with the extra rice rolled into balls and sprinkled with sesame seeds.)

(Just avocado in these; it was all I had left. But I rolled ‘em two different ways this time. And topped the extra rice balls with avocado slices, too…)
They actually tasted pretty good, but I definitely need more practice making a nice even roll…
It is like Spring out there, today. The air is expansive and fresh.
I’m still doing the small things, here.
But it feels good.

By-the-way, the spiffy sushi plates, chopsticks, placemat and tea cup and saucer are gifts from my sweetie. Thanks, Amy!
