Chasing The Night
Rain is lining down. It is soft and watery out there. Gray pulling the brightness of wet blossoms out all the brighter. Dreams and memory all around me today. The music pouring through my speakers: vivid.
Night withdraws at this time of year. Daylight opens like a spring flower, spreading wide. I have an app on my phone that times the day by the amount of light and dark it holds. In the Winter, night rises like a tide. In Spring, it looks like this:
The light blue color is the daylight; dark is the night. (The Sun icon at the top is Noon. The Moon at the bottom: Midnight.)
I’m off today, drifting through the hours. Strange dreams, last night. They’ve lingered like the rain and have me paging through memories, today. Contemplating tides, and how the light gets deep this time of year.
