Breadcrumbs
The sky is soft blue-gray; a timeless haze over the environment. I can hear cicadas, the tapping of my fingers on this keyboard and dreamlike music. All else is quiet.
I dipped into the Internet this morning, while drinking my coffee and letting a B-12 tablet dissolve under my tongue. Gizmodo had an article about a time-lapse video of artist Laura Lawson creating a painting. I found it inspiring watching her work (and loved her painting). Drifted to her website; bookmarked it. Shifted to Vimeo to see more about the time-lapse rig they used to make her painting film. The video artists were called, The Seventh Movement. I watched another of their videos. This one was a time-lapse real-estate piece called, Sandhill. I liked that too — and really loved the music that they used in the film. Turned out that was “Saskatoon” by a group called, Data Romance. Floated to iTunes to find them. ”Saskatoon” was from a soundtrack that they had done for a film called, Life Cycles. I previewed the songs and ended up buying the entire album. I am listening to it now, as I write. Then I got curious about the Life Cycles movie. Found that on iTunes as well. It was about mountain bikes (of which I know next to nothing) but looked absolutely beautiful and dream-like. So I bought that too. I’m looking forward to watching it in HD on my MacBook Pro.
I love how film, music and art can shift my perception of time and the visual world, how they can inspire and evoke emotional responses. Philosophical musings. I love how I can dip casually into the Internet while sipping a cup of coffee and find new artists, musicians and ways of looking at the world. All by following a trail of digital breadcrumbs.
