Year Ending

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (1)

Christmas was sweet (and I'm still in the "holiday enjoyment" frame of mind). Like a movie fast-forwarding, however, the year is blurring by. I'm amazed that tomorrow is the last day of 2003...

Eventually, I'll have a greater variety of photos up here -- and some other new stuff, as well.

Thanks for visiting. I hope your holidays are grooving along smoothly!

Merry Christmas!

Where ever you may be, I hope that your day is sweet, your loved ones near, and your hours happy.

Here, it is cold...with a light frosting for the Holiday. I just popped on to say, "Hello".

Now it's time to get back by the tree and enjoy the day...

Merry Christmas.

Eve of the Eve

Well, the presents are wrapped, things are relatively dust-free, and it is just about "kick back, relax and enjoy" time. (And, after all this practice, I think that I can probably gift-wrap an insolent drunken monkey on a pogo stick, thank you very much.)

Outside, it is warm and vaguely rainy, snow pulling back to tiny piles and little patches. They are talking of a white Christmas, however, so who knows...

Once I get some time, I'll be adding new pictures to The Allurium (and updating MovableType as well). I'm also planning on adding other features, as I go skating into the New Year.

I hope you like them! (And thanks for visiting.)

Monday is down to a few sand grains and I'm finally done Christmas shopping.

So I have some holiday tunes playing, did a bit of wrapping, and am generally unwinding. The air is warmer now, snow melting down to patches. I'm going to try and grab a bottle of red wine so that I can do the whole mulled wine thing on Christmas Eve -- that's always yummy.

Anyway, I hope your week is off to a good start.

Weekending

Ah, Friday.

After a stream water silver day someone shook up the snow globe and fluttered down white.

Dark now, and deep into the night. It is quiet, still and cold, outside. I watched a movie, typed away, pondered hair highlights while buzzed, and listened to Evanescence for a while.

Now, this. Soon, that.

Hope you have a silky smooth weekend.

From Me 2 Me

Each Christmas, being the goof that I am, I buy myself something small and (hopefully) odd, as a little present from "me to me". This year's item arrived yesterday and, some sore fingers later, I've put it together and am very pleased with myself. :-)

My gift from me to me.
Behold the glory of my Mechana Stikfas! lol (He's holding a little teddy bear, by-the-way; Why? Because he can!)

What can I say? I think he's cool. And Teddy, too.

Melting

At the moment, I'm fighting the urge to add more stuff to the revised Allurium. I do believe in the "less is more" design mantra but wonder if I haven't gone too stark this time around...

My Christmas shopping and card writing festival is going relatively smoothly. I only have a few more things to get for the holidays. Then I can kick back and enjoy!

It's almost 50 degrees here, today. A perfect blue sky looking down over melting heaps of snow and fluttering birds.

Very nice.

I've been fluttering around on the Net getting some Christmas shopping done. Much progress has been made. Now it's time to get something to eat. Writing out Christmas cards waits for later...

(Definitely "Holiday Vibe-ing" today.)

Snow Falling

It looks like a movie set, outside. All sweeping curves of white, frosted trees, steady fluttering lines of snowflakes drifting down.

Very beautiful. Very quiet.

Things are frosting-over outside, at the moment. Cold and bare turning into Winter Wonderland territory. I'm up late, eyes tired, thoughts adrift. I should probably be in bed but, despite being tired, I also feel sort of restless and lonely. Ah well...

Me, in the early hours.
Just thinking, typing, browsing aimlessly around on the Net. Digging the capsule toys on Kidrobot. Watching the snowplows roll by on the street outside, lights flashing.

Anyway...

Afternooning

Well. I'm feeling pretty good on this pale Saturday afternoon...

The revised version of The Allurium seems to be working. I'm going to add a greater variety of photos to the internal pages and such, and maybe work in a few other gadgets. Updating is turning out to be very easy -- so that part of my plan is going smoothly!

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy the new look -- and that you'll visit again.

AM Thoughts

It was a nice night. I got to get out and see everyone. Had a good meal, cool gifts. Went over to Bob and Amy's afterward and got retro with Pitfall. Turning 40 was fun, and I'm very grateful to Kelli, my family and my friends for giving me such a nice night.

It's in the wee hours now, though. Music and deep nighttime. I feel like something really cool happened while I wasn't looking -- and now I've spun around to see...and I'm here in the dimness, alone.

Silvering

Twelve-twelve is silvery and cold: trees, ink-lines against the pale sky.

I'm cleaning up and getting ready to go out this evening. The soundtrack to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is playing in the background. That Yo-Yo Ma cello solo fits the day like a velvet glove.

So, how do you like the new look?

This new version of The Allurium (5.0, if you are keeping track at home) is still a bit wet-behind-the-ears -- but I wanted to get it going now, instead of more procrastination. I've been feeling a Superflat kind of vibe for the last few days and am definitely on the verge of distraction...

The whole site is now running via a combination of MovableType and my own hand-coded stuff. I'm hoping that this will free me to update more frequently and such.

And today is my 40th birthday, too -- so a new groove fits in well.

Thanks for visiting The Allurium. I hope that you enjoy the new setup, and that you'll be back...
