January 2004 Archives
I watched Ghost in the Shell again tonight, while sipping a Corona and eating crackers. It is crystal cold and still, outside.
And I'm sleepy; early for me -- especially for a Friday.
Ah well...
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like the site, and that you will return.
Have a good weekend!
I'm thirsty; sleepy. My back, legs and shoulders are tired. Eyes heavy.
Don't think I'll be pulling an all-nighter tonight.
The snow is deep, weighty, and coated with a glaze of ice. It crunches when you step, or shovel, through it. As I finished digging out the driveway, tonight, it started to rain.
Now it is back to quiet coldness, again.
And they say another storm is on its way.
I love Winter -- but I definitely wouldn't complain about an early Spring...
Shoveling snow before dawn can be a very peaceful thing. It was quiet outside. Very calm. Not even especially cold (though my toes, now de-thawing, might argue that point). I just cut a path to, and around, the car. Then cleared that off. The rest will have to wait.
The snow is thick and heavy. Smooth expanses of white, everywhere -- shining in that low way, before the true morning climbs up.
I enjoyed it.
Though now, I must admit, I'm ready for bed.
It is a purple and white evening -- and my toes are cold.
Things have slipped deeper into chilly realms. The snow (frozen down to an almost dry glitter) casts more light than the sky above it. It is very still outside. In here, it is quiet...winter pressing in through the walls.
So for me it is a "hot soup for supper" kind of evening. Then a movie. Once Upon a Time in Mexico. And socks, I think.
Hope your weekend is going well.
I've been drifting around on the Internet, tonight...sort of like a leaf in a stream. Learning about rss feeds, reading book and game reviews, checking the news.
It is cold and black, outside. Everything is quiet in here. Just the fan in my computer...and the tapping of the keyboard.
Hope you are keeping warm where you are...
Man, I'm tired. This week has been like running a car in neutral for me. Can't seem to get things rolling.
So I'm looking at making this night an early night...and hopefully rising to a more energized, and in gear, weekend.
Thanks for visiting the site. I hope you'll be back.
In the end, I think we are all haunted by our formative experiences. Many of my shadings were set down years ago...
Right now, though, the shadings are of the most pale blue. Ice before it evaporates. Daylight, but daylight still new. Robin's egg blue.
Thursday. Still forming.
Welcome to The Allurium. I hope you enjoy this vague place...and that you'll come again.
Ah, a day like a gem dipped in liquid nitrogen. All pure blues and whites.
And nippy.
So, I did some cleaning and fiddled with the computer a bit. Now I'm updating a bit, while listening to The Pixies.
And the snow outside is growing luminous, as the light goes down...
After being inspired by working with Kelli on a MovableType installation, I've finally gotten around to customizing the look of the various forms on The Allurium. I have also added a search function to the bottom of the Information page. It only searches through the weblog entries but, hey, that's kinda cool, isn't it?
Now it's time for lunch!
Well...I'm posting this from my new computer. Spiff-a-roo!
I think I have most of my settings and assorted stuff transferred to this new machine. Forgot to export my email address book, however. So that has to be done at some point.
Other than that, things are grooving along smoothly.
On the other hand, I still have to take out the trash -- and it's nippy outside!
Ah well...
Whew. I was rolling along pretty smoothly today -- but now I'm feeling fairly droopy...
The new computer is just about ready to go. (All I have to do is transfer my old email over to the new machine. I think.) Once that's done I'll be able to get back to adding new stuff to The Allurium. Should be cool.
At the moment, though, I'm going to kick back and relax.
At the moment I'm over Kelli's installing Movabletype.
While she adoringly feeds me Herseys Kisses,
Oooh yeah!
Other than that -- it's cold outside!
Hope your weekend is going well!
Brrr, kinda cold here. To say the least.
After an all-nighter, I have finally have the direct cable connection between my old and new computers working. I'm now typing one-handed: because I'm spending a lot of time patting myself on the back.
File transfers are now beginning. Yay me.
Other than that, I hope that your weekend is enjoyable (and not too frigid).
Mmm, I'm sleepy but really should go get a cable at Radio Shack. (Along with a bunch of other things.) I have to start transferring files from one computer to the other.
Actually, though, I feel like watching a movie (or playing a game) instead.
Or napping.
I did stir my lethargic butt enough to write a new Tangerine entry (the first for the new year). So that's up. And my scanner is now working, so new pics should be making their way onto the site fairly soon.
Now, if I could only keep to my exercise routine...
Ooh, Apple just released colorful "mini" versions of the iPod. Spiffy! Hmm, makes me ponder the fun of a mini in a mini...
Other than that: it snowed (and is very frosty 'round here). I may run up to Radio Shack later to get a cable to help with setting up the new computer Kelli got me for Christmas. Thanks, Hon! :-)
Keep your toes warm!
This was a gray water day, with the air getting colder and the light pale and bleary. At the moment, I'm sweaty and a bit disheveled; that old New Year's Resolution exercise thing. This is always a naturally good time to turn over a new leaf.
Right now the sky is the color of a stone at the bottom of a stream. I'm going to hose myself down and get some more stuff done...
With a glass of Merlot just finished and delayed sleep finally beckoning, just thought I'd say, Hi.
It is 2004 but the sequence feels a bit off, like this should be Saturday or something. Another weekend rolling up close, though, is cool.
At the moment, it is raining outside and deep dark quiet. In here it is warm and drowsy. Thanks for visiting my site -- I hope that you enjoy it, and that you will return again during this new year.
Right now, though, I'm going to hit the hay.
