The Shoveler

Shoveling snow before dawn can be a very peaceful thing. It was quiet outside. Very calm. Not even especially cold (though my toes, now de-thawing, might argue that point). I just cut a path to, and around, the car. Then cleared that off. The rest will have to wait.

The snow is thick and heavy. Smooth expanses of white, everywhere -- shining in that low way, before the true morning climbs up.

I enjoyed it.

Though now, I must admit, I'm ready for bed.
