Sweet & Sunny

It's sunny and sweet outside. Blue skies, crystal-clear light and warmth that is verging on Spring-like.

Nice.

I'm going to get out in it.

:-)

All Brown Nut Greens

I really don't have any idea what the title of this entry means. Earlier, I had a dream in which that phrase was featured more than once, and very clearly. So I figured...

What do you think it means?

All I know right now, is that Wednesday's light is like crystal-clear water. Everything is bright and vivid.

And the snow is almost gone.

Pizza, Cooking

Sniffing the pizza as it cooks, and getting hungry.

Thinking about the powdered sugar-like scattering of snow outside -- and the rumours of warmer times, come Saturday.

Pondering mac & cheese as a side dish.

And considering socks, for my cold toes.

Oddly-enough, this kinda feels like Friday, to me. Or something...

Vicarious Switching

Not to be a corporate shill or anything but I have to say, Apple really does make impressive technology -- and software.

Over the weekend, Kelli bought a 12 inch Apple - iBook G4 -- and it has worked flawlessly. From trying out a bluetooth dongle, to installing an Airport card and logging onto a wireless "hotspot", the iBook handled it all. With no drivers to install, no cryptic error messages, and no crashes. It works the way you'd think all computers should work by this point. Using Mac OS X is very cool, too. The OS is elegant and powerful and the included "iLife" applications are some of the smoothest things I've seen (my personal favorite is Gargeband, at least at the moment).

Very sweet, indeed.

Though now I have an even worse case of gadget envy...

Future Past

The The Philadelphia Inquirer Online has a cool article about William Gibson. Apparently, Neuromancer was inspired by a bus stop ad for an Apple IIc.

How cool is that?

I still have one of those computers in a box in my basement. I loved it. And I remember thinking how spiffy and high-tech it was with it's internal 5 1/4 inch floppy drive and such. :-)

Time flies.

And Then, Sunshine!

Right now, the remaining patches of snow are like white shadows: just here and there, and fading quick. The sky is blue and bright and I do believe that birds are tweeting. There are also rumors of fifty (as in degrees Fahrenheit) for today.

Groovy.

Last night, I got up to get a drink of water. Some pale movement from outside my window caught my eye. I looked through the dim glass and saw several big deer walking around in the front yard and street. One just looked back at me, ears flicking.

I thought that was pretty groovy, too.

Mood 7

...Is sort of a throat-scratchy, dim-roomed, "wish I had more of a vibe going" type of feeling.

Still the day, winding down, is blue-sky pretty (if cold) and the music is good. Pushing up to the surface of things.

So it's cool.

Hearts & Flowers

Valentine's Day weekend was very cool. I had a great time seeing everybody at the Improv on Friday. Kelli and I had a sweet Valentine's Day on Saturday (interspersed with celebrating my Dad's birthday). And Sunday was a good meal out, followed by hanging with Kelli and Alex till late.

Very fun, all around.

Improv

Friday is tipping toward the weekend side and I'm getting ready to go out.

Kelli and I are meeting some friends down at the Improv to see Robert Schimmel tonight, with maybe a dinner before. Hopefully a cool start to the Valentine's Day weekend.

Here's to X's and O's and all that.

;-)

Day Ghost

I feel like a ghost in my day, today.

I'm moving along but not deeply connected to the stuff I'm doing. Feeling a bit like I'm made of dusty glass. Just generally haunting my way through the afternoon, I guess.

Ah, I know: more coffee. Now there's an idea with a shadow.

Wallpaper

Well, I've had quick dreams and epic ones, dreams that shifted from color to black and white, dreams that frightened me and ones that had me oh so in the mood for love.

But I've never had a cheerful dream that, pretty much, involved me stripping wallpaper in a mostly empty room.

I gotta get out more.

Flurry

Underestimating the temperature, I skipped the scarf and ear muffs and ended up being pretty chilly tonight. I ran up to the mall to get some Valentine's stuff -- and a card for my Dad's birthday.

A group of little bears in the Hallmark store continually professed their love for random strangers -- much to the exasperation of the clerks, who had heard it all before.

I thought the bears were pretty funny, and might have bought one if they had had a larger vocabulary...

Later, while I was heading to the car in the parking lot, it started to flurry. Big fluffy flakes tumbling down. It was like being inside a snow globe.

I stuck out my tongue, to catch a few.

Cold Pipes

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (1)

Ah...just had a drink of icy-cold water. That's a good thing about Winter; keeps the pipes cold.

I've been tweaking some of the code for The Allurium. Neatening things up, now that I can see the site in IE 6.0. Hopefully things are looking a bit better 'round here. I've also updated my MovableType installation, just to keep things up-to-date. I have to crack down at some point and get some new images up, too.

Right now, though, I think I'll have some more water.

Slush

For some reason the theme song from Hawaii Five-O keeps looping through my head today. Maybe it's wishful, beach-related thinking...

It is cold and slushy around here. Rain meandering to sleet, flirting with ice and then wandering back to drizzle. Earlier, snowflakes the size of fluffy white feathers drifted down in silent profusion. Now it's just pale white and slippery-wet.

Book 'em, Dan-O.

Titillation

Well, the weekend was fun (if chilly).

The Superbowl was more or less enjoyable -- though the half-time show had to have been one of the lamest that I've seen. And what was with that Janet Jackson "costume malfunction" at the end of her lip-synced number with Justin Timberlake? Are thirteen-year-old boys in charge of the half-time show planning, now? 'Cause they are about the only ones who would find Janet's finale, uh, titillating.

Or maybe I'm just getting crotchety in my old age...
