Imaging Spring

It's beautiful outside. A blue sky, bright Spring day.

Very nice.

Red Tulip Close-Up - April, 2004
The camera embedded in my cell phone doesn't produce high quality images -- but this has lead me to make the best of the pictures I can get. I snap them and upload them to my computer via the phone's built-in bluetooth feature. It's kinda fun, actually. Most of the photos now on The Allurium have been taken by me with my phone (the others are scans of good old paper pics that I took).

The shot in this entry is a tulip that is blooming out in my front yard.

Thumbs up, I say. :-)

Chilly

I came out of the firehall (after voting) and strolled into a hailstorm...

It is a wet, chilled-down kind of day, with dramatic skies. Even the tulips have decided to keep their blossoms closed. The wind, at times, is insistent.

Happy Birthday, Bill!
At first I thought the swirling white was flower petals, flurried down from the trees. Then a little hailstone tumbled inside my shirt and melted against my belly-button.

Ah, April.

Anyway, at least there isn't a few feet of snow outside. And, hey, Happy Birthday to my brother, Bill!

Float Wide

A tree in the yard is blooming. It looks frothy and perfect, with a flowery scent that floats wide.

Crab Apple Tree - April 21, 2004
Things feel...slower, today. Humid and dimmed a bit. I have a low headache that's barely there but still...sullen. Hah. No biggie.

I'm kind of dragging. Just passing time at the moment (or time passing me, I suppose). The sky looks like a wet white towel. The air is muggy. Everything is pretty much quiet. That's not bad.

But.

Here's to yesterday's cheer, again...

Obscure Venting

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

So late from it all (so detached from it all). Hours, as a buffer.

But.

They don't, really.

I'm sad and sleepy -- and wishing for better things.

I wish I was at the beach. And everyone was happy.

I wish for a lot of things.

Sorry for the obscure venting...

Man, some days just grind you down. This, has definitely been one of those.

And it is so beautiful out, too. It seems such a shame, wasted somehow. Though not really. I guess. A pretty day is a pretty day. So that's cool.

I have a headache orbiting and I feel hot and dry. Very very tired.

Thanks for the good stuff and all...but here's to better days.

Groove

Some rain, today -- after a bright, warm weekend. I like the smell of Spring rain. It is different than the scent of rain that falls in other seasons. There is something uplifting about a shower in Spring time.

Kelli -- Sunday, April 18, 2004
Kelli and I tooled around with the top down, over the weekend. Sunshine and blue-skies: a very nice change of pace. Gotta get back in the treadmill groove again, now. I did pretty well last week.

Did I mention that I love Spring?

Greening

Today is bright, like a puppy on a wide green lawn.

Spring Fountain
I'm getting mundane stuff done, though it is warm enough now to wander around outside without a jacket. (Well, I did a little of that, too.)

Friday, and I'm looking forward to seeing Kelli. And unwinding into a warm and sunny weekend.

I have some neat ideas for updating The Allurium. I'm also still working on some stuff to jazz up Tangerine, too.

Here's to a great weekend, and to a warm and lush Spring.

Warming

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

The rains took a breather. Now the air is filling up with warmth pushing the chill down into the muddy ground...and away. It's bright and smooth, today -- with predictions for an even better climb over the weekend.

Groovy.

metaI took a few more pictures with my camera phone, played with them in my photo program, and added them to the random corner pic thing. Hope you like 'em.

After twenty minutes on the treadmill and a bit more funiture and picture moving, I'm dusty, sweaty, and in need of showering and food. Not sure in what order all that will play-out, but I'm going to get crackin' on something right now.

Thanks for droping by.

I hope your Thursday evening is flowing along smoothly.

Motion Blur

If you could hit fast-forward, and view it, the day would be a blur of furniture re-arrangement. Figures hefting sofas and such in wizzing arcs and bumble-bee paths. The action soundtracked by Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips.

Oh yeah, and sunlight pouring in, from blue-ing skies...

Spiff (though my back kinda aches).

Green Water

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

I dreamt that it was morning, and that I was in a rental car, parked on a misty, shady street by a river. Tidy houses lined the street, each with white wrap-around porches. A man dressed in a pale-colored sports coat came out of the house next to mine, sat down on his porch and had a bowl of cereal.

I was rooting in the glove compartment of the rental car. In there, I found a box of Raisin Bran. I opened the box of cereal and tried one flake, dry. It was stale, so I put it all away.

Across the slow river, was a house half-hidden by drizzle and willow trees. I could see a set of wide thick concrete steps, leading from the back yard of the house, down into the green waters of the river. Or maybe it was a lake. I imagined the waters to be warm, relaxing.

And woke, thirsty.

The day is misty, rainy. Dim and glistening with the new green of Spring grass and budding tree leaves. Water is suspended (or dripping) everywhere. Rain-drops making glass circles in the pond.

Next to my computer, is a tall Guinness glass that I had filled with water, earlier. I have very nearly drank it dry...

I've been having a bit of virus trouble with my computer; so I'm a bit behind in my email and such -- but I'll catch up soon! (Serves me right for not updating my virus check for, like, a year...)

It is slightly rainy today, but the birds are tweeting and Spring flowers are blooming. I can smell the lily in the living room. Very nice.

Happy Easter!

Steam

meta I have listed The Allurium with the GeoURL servers, and added a little GeoURL link to my Information page. It's pretty cool, I think. :-)

The air has been restless, warming, growing cold...then switching back. Today it rained for the most part, with bouts of oddly clear sunshine. After one misty drizzle, the roofs of the houses on my street...steamed. It was very cool to watch: crystal sunlight slanting in, everything glimmering, sky blurry -- and ghostly clouds of steam rising from wet roofs.

I liked it.

Hope the weekend is more shine than wet glimmer, though.

Bright Edge

It's beautiful, today.

I'm swimming a bit slow through the hours at the moment. Getting over a bit of a bug that hit me yesterday. Though things are still slightly cool; it definitely feels like Spring, now.

I'm enjoying it.

But feeling low for some reason, too.

Don't really know why.

Light Change

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (1)

With the change in clock-keeping comes an extension of evening. Tonight, the sky held its light far deeper than usual -- and has, only now, gone from indigo to black.

Very cool, says I.

I just finished a cup of green tea and am planning on a bit of movie watching (or something similar). I might get to bed early tonight 'cause I'm a bit tired. Been that way all day.

Ah, exciting, eh?

"Looking out a decade or two, every person and thing could be instrumented with sensors that feed data into the cloud and, based on polices and inferred rules, take actions on behalf of the 'client.'" - From an interesting article by Dan Farber on ZDNet.

Guess that's the whole "pervasive computing" thing. Real virtuality. Go go, smart dust!

The article also drops this little bon mot: "Gartner analysts predicted that by 2015, passive tags would begin to inhabit every non-trivial object, and every thing could be identifiable and located." I'm not sure if I buy that, but I do wonder at what constitutes a "non-trivial object".

If it does all come to pass, perhaps they'll be able to answer the age-old Pixies question:

"Where is my mind?"

And Friday

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Well the first day of April has gone down, and the night is up. Jet black and chilly. I'm still meandering (though I'm getting kind of tired). Got a few more things to do; then it's bed time.

Just thought I grab a moment. See how it feels. Heh.

It's sleepy and quiet...and Friday.

Nice...

Born Happy

metaRecent additions to The Allurium: Inline picture drop shadows (say that five times while hopping on a pop-go stick!), the Colophon page (googly!) and the glorious Full Archive Page (feel the love!).

If I had a virtual camera I would have used it today; this afternoon. Set it to swirl around me as I stood in the greening yard, flowers at my feet and snow flakes floating down from the fresh April sky. Hyper-pristine clarity and deep color saturation, baby. Yeah!

Fresh, and Agog - in 1964
April one, and I have Dave Matthews cranking. "I was just wondering if you'd come along..." I feel -- happy, in a vivid kind of way. Don't really know why, but I'm not knocking it.

There are baby leaves on the willow tree that are the color of a bright green crayon. The rain-chilly breeze is making them sway. But the warmth is coming (with the lengthening of the light) and the buds will soon open wider, under bluer skies.

I think that's groovy.

Thumbs up!
