Spirited Away...

...I'd like to be.

All day, an orchestral bit from the soundtrack to Hayao Miyazaki's film, Spirited Away has been looping quietly in my mind. The music is from the part where Chihiro is riding on the train to Swamp Bottom. It is beautiful stuff, both visually and aurally. Not a bad thing to have stuck in your head on a sunny afternoon at the end of June.

It is warmer here, now. Bright.

And I can hear the sound of water.

Blending with the memory of music.

Shiny Saturday

Saturday, and the air feels light around me, the skies tall. Perfect blue.

I've slept late but feel better.

Everything is quiet and pretty.

The day feels calm -- with birdsong and highway whispers soundtracking the shiny visuals.

Cool.

I'm feeling a bit...worn, today. Not too good at all, actually.

Ah well.

At least it's Friday.

On a less droopy topic: I now have a FOAF file. Exciting, huh? I have been reading about FOAF on the The Foaf Project. I think the idea is pretty cool -- so here is mine. (There's also a static link to it on my main Instrospection page.)

Anyway, here's to a good weekend.

The Hour, Late

My, it is late...or early.

And quiet.

I'm light on the keys (because even small sounds throw big shadows in these hours). Hence typing like whispering and the machine's muted audio. The stillness is here like a ghost -- but for the fan, and rumours from the not-so-distant highway. Those shadows sigh-in through the screens.

This screen shines (mostly pale) and blinks. No breath. No real context.

I feel vaguely haunted by the quiet, the stillness, the hours. And my undreaming state.

Though now it is even earlier.

Or later.

Summer

Ah, I'm back...

I had a bit of fun with my Internet connection (angst, ugh) but things seem to be settled in that regard, now. Thank goodness.

And hello Summer. Things here are bright and windy -- but that's cool. Even during less-than-fun times, Summer makes me feel open and happy. I've changed the random pictures on The Allurium to the "Summer Theme" folder (and will add more as I go along).

Other than that, I hope the warm months treat you well.

I'm planning on feeling the sweet Summer air on me -- as often as possible.

:-)

Haze

This day has a blur to it, like the paled-out sky is smearing down to the landscape. Things seem a bit over-exposed. Still.

In the mid afternoon I'm a bit scruffy, my eyes grainy (I have to get some new contact lenses). I'm pushing coffee --

-- And remembering dreams I used to have of flying and windsurfing, gliding along as free as a thought. Haven't had one of those in a while.

Anyway, here's to Tuesday. And the nearness of Summer.

Someday, Again

Ah, Friday. And I'm sweating.

It's all waves of misty rain, today -- backed by wet green. Cooler -- but dim, too. Friday feels slow, a bit blurred around the edges.

But, hey, it is the end of the week. So that's spiffy.

I've been cleaning carpets (hence the sweat). I'm just about done and ready to clock-in to "weekend time". I always look forward to that.

Still, I wish I was at the beach. Toes in the sand, salt breeze in my hair...all that good stuff. Again...

Someday.

Partly Cloudy

I'm headachey and haunted by sneezes, today. These allergic festivities had taken a few years off but, this Spring, decided to come back and party. *sniff*

Ah well. "Waiter? More Benadryl, please..."

Anyway, things here are wavering between shine and rain. Feeling like October, inside, with the air-conditioning -- and like heavy hot wet towels, outside, in the unprocessed air.

'Thinking' -- June, 2004
I took this picture with my cellphone a couple of days ago. Even though my face looks kinda elongated in it, I still like the composition of the shot. So there!

Hope your Thursday is going well...

I've been Mr. Plumber here, of late. (I replaced a sink fixture today and will be working on a shower tomorrow, with another sink job to come.) Amazingly enough, nothing is leaking so far (knock wood).

Me, on the Appalachian Trail - May 29, 2004
Other than that, I'm just trying to stay groovy. I haven't developed my hiking pics, yet -- but did have this one, that I took on the trail with my phone cam. Am I stylish or what? (I think the hat makes it.)

I hope your week is off to a smooth start. Things here are bright and warm -- and that's always nice in my book.

Update (From the Time Flies Department): Happy Birthday, Nigel!

Thursday's Child

So it's all bird tweets, sunshine and soft air. Blue skies. Gidget, wandering around on the porch -- that paw patter, dog-collar jingle.

And a tall glass of cool water with Kelli.

Not bad for a Thursday evening at the near side of June.

Peace.

Back Again

I'm back!

And boy are my legs tired...

Pictures of my Appalachian hiking adventure will (eventually) be forthcoming. Right now though, a few things I've learned:

  • Walking sticks are a very good thing.
  • Wearable "hydration" systems rock, too.
  • Walking over miles of actual rocks, kinda sucks.
  • Ramen noodles taste fantastic after a ten mile day of the above.
  • You can sneak three large dogs into a "No Pets Allowed" motel room with some nerve and a bit of luck.
  • After hiking? Pizza and beer.

Nice to be here. And I'm glad you are visiting, too.

Catch ya later...
