February 2006 Archives
It is a jet black, cold water night and I'm moving slowly through it, eyes tired. Just had some spicy Thai ginger soup and a sandwich (so my tall glass of water is going down smoothly, for sure). Thought I'd surf for a bit, then logoff and watch a movie or something.
The geek in me saw this, however, and got caught up. I love the idea of reactive, "emotional" toys and wonder if, at some point, they might even evolve into some sort of empathy teaching tools. To spend time with a robot that convincingly mimics life might be a way to improve empathy for other living things. What a cool thing that would be.
Pleo looks neat, and I would love to play with one, but I've got my heart set on a walking, talking "Teddy" from the movie A.I.
Yeah, I know. I'm a dork.
Slowly but surely I am getting back into a groove, here...
After quite a long time I finally have an updated pair of glasses and a new supply of contact lenses. I am also halfway along on my goal of dropping 20 pounds and getting back into better shape.
Cool beans.
At the moment, I'm getting ready to go walking -- but first, this:
I'm kinda getting back to my hippy roots, too.
Another near-Spring glimmer, today -- though the air at the walking track was still cool. All these hints of warmer seasons, wrapped up in Winter whites... I'm starting to enjoy the teasing. Still, it's dark and sleepy, now. I should be in bed.
Instead, I'm lingering here for a bit.
Hi.
A very happy birthday to my Dad. Thank you for all that you have given me -- and for the example that you set. May you have many more happy years, good health and prosperity, and may the best of your dreams be realized.
Happy Birthday, Dad!

Friday, at last. Seems like it took a long time, this week.
But things are moving now (the weekend blur beginning). Not much to say...except that the sky was low and fluffy, the air: crisp. The feel is like unwinding. And I didn't even know I was wound to begin with.
So this is nice.
Even if it is supposed to snow bunches tomorrow...

I'm not usually the most sport-minded fellow, but I am looking forward to the Super Bowl, this Sunday. Watching it with my Dad should be fun. I hope the game is a good one and that the weekend is full of enjoyments, large and small.
As for the game itself...well, I'm going to wear my lucky yellow shirt, for sure. :-)
Happy Friday, and here's to a fun weekend...

Listening to old Psychedelic Furs (All of This and Nothing) while a new month swirls in. In the evening, the solar lanterns in the yard glow brighter now -- drawing from a generously growing share of daylight. Winter: tipping.
I'm getting things done. And getting ready to go out. Made a list of resolutions that I keep in my wallet. None are achieved, yet. I'm working on them all. Shaking off the dust. Feeling the light expand, if slowly.
Hello, February.
