Here's to a spooky, fun and candy-filled time for everyone:

Happy Halloween!

Bright

Today was brightly-cold and brightly-lit. A crystalline day, highlighted in the afternoon by a glitter of tiny snowflakes. They drifted over the near-Halloween landscape like small ghosts...

Now the sun has gone all a-slant and the sky is fading toward dusk. I'm making dinner but, after that, I'm going to brighten things in here. Lights and warmth. And some brightly-calm unwinding, that'd be good.

Meridian

In a dream I named a town between two others, Meridian. Don't know why, but that has been floating in my head for a couple of days. It's a pretty word...

Here. In the middle of the month. On the line between evening and night. Between buzzing and unwinding. Kinda hungry, kinda not...

Tuesdaying.

It is dark and quiet and I'm exhausted but hovering just above the dreaming threshold. These hours feel empty. I feel disconnected. A tall glass of water soothes. The computer's fans lull. My eyes are tired.

Little Pumpkin Groove

Peeking out now, from behind the green, are splashes of yellow, orange and bright red. Just highlights at the moment. They add extra shine to a day that has cycled from bright to dim and back again. It is cool but not chilly -- good coffee (or hot tea) drinking weather. Ads for Halloween decorations, costumes and treats are showing (like those Fall leaves) in the Sunday paper circulars. I've already nibbled some candy corn: getting into the groove, don't you know.

Autumn is stretching out wider and Amy should be back in town in a couple of hours or so. She gave me a little pumpkin that is now sitting on my desk. Seems like a good image to welcome in the orange month, so...

Little Pumpkin - October 1, 2006
