June 2007 Archives
Earlier, Gabby was an inky pool on the floor, curled in a patch of sunshine. I ruffled her heated fur and said, "Good morning". She meowed (a bit sleepily) and went back to napping. A relaxed way to start the first day of Summer, for sure.
Not being a cat myself, I am swilling coffee and buzzing about. Getting ready for work. Ah, but the shine and birdsong outside... The blue skies. It would be nice to nap -- or to go out and soak the hours up in a patch of sunshine.
Still. I'm happy to be here.
Hello Summer!
I saw a buttercup-colored butterfly tumble by. The heat is around me like an embrace. Hazed blue: the sky above me. I'm typing this on my phone, thumbs twiddling, feet bare on the grass. It is my day off and I am loving the open sky moments. :-)
After a deep rainfall, when the sky was tinted yellow-green and everything swirled and glimmered, I rode home with Amy. The power had dropped-out before, but lights were awake again. The air held that post-rain scent. All was quiet.
And there, in someone's front yard: the luminous green glow of a firefly (the first I've seen this year) winked on...
Then off.
It felt very Summery today. Bright and shiny. May flowed by faster than normal (and with fewer flower petals for my liking). Feels like Spring has bowed-out early -- at least at the moment.
I'm sipping cold water, setting my alarm clock for "Ugh, Early", and typing this with my shirt off.
Hello June!
